Safety Equipment

Legislation requires at least two different forms of safety on ‘impulse down’ systems, ensure your installation meet the requirements by utilising our safety accessories. We ensure all of our automation products meet or exceed the very latest legislation.

We provide a wide range of safety equipment to make your door safe. We stock safety brakes to prevent doors dropping in the event of drive failure along with safety driven direct drives. We have optical and resistive safety edges so that doors stop and return in the event of obstructions from people or vehicles. We also supply photocells that detect anybody or anything passing under the door, to prevent closing on people or vehicles. Another option is our Domino Radar head, that detects.

PHOTOCELLS

We supply photocells for use with our door and gate automation equipment. They are compatible with most of our control panels. Photocells will detect the presence of a person or object in the vicinity of the door, and will prevent the door from closing, as well as returning it to top of its cycle. A photocell system is one form of safety required to meet legislation.

We also offer a light curtain system, which is a column of photocells providing a larger coverage, such as where a vehicle body may be in a door, but not at a height to trigger the safety system. This additional layer of safety minimises the risk of damage to both the door, and anything in the vicinity. We also stock and provide a photocell system that guarantees no interference from sunlight on the system, to ensure optimal safety conditions.

OPTICAL SAFETY EDGES

Our optical safety edges are fitted to the bottom edge of a door, and use a beam of light to detect obstacles. If the system detects an obstruction, it stops and returns, thereby preventing damage to whatever is lying in the path of the door. Safety systems, such as an Optical Safety Edge, are legally required for fitting on an impulse driven door.

An optical safety edge can be connected to control panels either through curly cable, or our wireless WES system, which means the end of cable snag and is suitable for larger doors.

RESISTIVE SAFETY EDGES

Resistive safety edge is fitted to the bottom edge of a door, and use electrical resistance to detect obstacles. If the system detects an obstruction, it stops and returns, thereby preventing damage to whatever is lying in the path of the door.Safety edges can be connected to control panels either through curly cable, or our wireless WES system, which means the end of curly cables and is suitable for larger doors.Safety edges are a part of your legal requirement for safety on impulse driven doors.
